Beautiful Girl Gaviby  her mom, Liz

Gavi has a unique combination of energy, brilliance, care, creativity, and movement. She's eleven and lives in Colorado.

Gavi and her pups, Dash and Blu, play constantly and personify what it means to love your pets and be loved yourself! Whether she’s writing to Congress about homelessness in Colorado or soothing someone feeling down, one conversation with Gavi and you notice her active compassion, emotional intelligence, and her desire to make a difference in the world.

She loves the color yellow, her oversized hoodie blanket, watching movies, and singing Hamilton, Adele, One Direction, and Taylor Swift. She also loves gymnastics, visual arts, drama, singing, writing, basketball, strategic board games, and endlessly jumping on the trampoline.

Recently, Gavi faced many challenges: an important adult in her life passed away, her mom and her mom’s partner separated, and wildfires burned many homes in Gavi’s neighborhood. Although Gavi’s home survived, it was a hard and emotional experience.

But Gavi began processing her feelings, accepting help from people like her school counselor, therapist, mom, dad, and godmother. She focuses on what brings her joy and lets her feelings pass through her system.

She finds the positives in her life, like the arts middle school she chose for herself. And she sees the people around her and how much they care for her.

Mental health is so important, and Gavi stands out in the way she recognizes and names her emotions. She works on moving the feelings through her body, knowing who she is and that she matters.

Liz says, “Until Gavi came along, our family wasn't complete. I am so deeply proud to be her mama. I believe that Gavi is going to continue her path forward to becoming herself and being a role model for others.”
